Where it all started...
The whole concept of Spotlight on the Barnyard began long before the reality of today. Our owner was born and raised on a dairy farm not far from our present location. Milking cows was his passion and developed a very impressive herd of red and white Holsteins. Over those early years, experiences in animal nutrition were developed and was followed by a degree in animal science from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College (now Dalhousie university - agricultural campus). A return to the home farm reinforced these principals and work with poultry, sheep, goats has widened those horizons. Its been an amazing 50 years.
Todays farm still exists as an important component of Spotlight on the Barnyard . Our expertise and understanding of our customers needs trace directly to the workings of the Old Barnyard.

Running into the future...
Established in 2014, our growth in the retail industry has been steady . Beginning as a livestock feed supplier (Purina) we have continued to develop and now can offer our clientele a wide range of nearly 50 livestock feed products . As we continue to develop, we have added farm supplies as part of our offerings. And of course , the most important assistants around the farm can't be forgotten , so we have pet foods too.
We are really your complete farm shopping experience.
Our staff is built on being friendly, knowledgable and determined to go the extra mile to ensure your animals nutritional requirements are met .
All this in an actual barnyard setting.
